The quick answer
Choose an on-grid inverter as part of a complete grid-connected system. Check the supply phase, panel string limits, protection requirements and current BESCOM connection process. An ordinary on-grid installation should not be assumed to provide power-cut backup.
What does an on-grid inverter do?
An inverter converts the DC electricity from solar panels into AC electricity. A grid-connected design also needs suitable mounting, wiring, electrical protection and an approved connection arrangement. The inverter rating is only one part of the specification.
If your main requirement is essential-load backup, say so before requesting a quotation. Grid-connected generation and backup during an outage are different requirements. Ask the installer to explain exactly what happens when the grid fails.
Match the Polycab inverter to the proposed panel array
Pai Power Solutions lists Polycab PSIS on-grid inverter products. Ask for the exact model datasheet and verify its permitted input voltage, input current, MPPT configuration and supply phase against the proposed array. Do not choose a model simply because its kW label resembles the panel total.
Request a written design identifying the panel strings and included protection equipment. Keep a record of the supplied model, serial number, warranty documents and monitoring handover. Ask who will handle a fault report after commissioning.

Check the BESCOM process before installation
BESCOM’s rooftop portal provides the application route and applicable regulatory information. Confirm the current requirements for your consumer category and proposed system rather than relying on an old tariff or a generic subsidy estimate.
For a Bangalore quotation, share your recent bill, property type and roof details. Ask separately about equipment cost, installation work and application-related responsibilities. A clear scope helps you compare proposals without assuming that every supplier includes the same work.
Common questions
Will an on-grid inverter run my home during a power cut?
Do not assume backup from an ordinary on-grid system. Ask for a documented backup design if you need essential loads to run during an outage.
Do I need BESCOM approval for grid-connected rooftop solar?
Check the current BESCOM application and connection requirements for your consumer category and proposed installation. The rooftop portal is the official starting point.
